The Indian Academy of Osseointegration was founded in 2002 with an objective to nurture and promote excellence in Dental Implantology in Indian Sub-continent. The Academy encourages highest quality of care by defining clinical standards and promoting cutting edge implant education through its International and National conventions, regional clinical meetings of IAO members and internet based discussion groups.

Memberships from all over India has ensured a pan-Indian presence for the Academy and a membership base that has a fair representation from General Practitioners, Prosthodontists, Periodontists, Oral Surgeons and other dental specialties who are recognized as leaders in their profession and known for their clinical and educational abilities.
